Can't Wait: Taking Action for Georgia

We can't wait until the next election to start paying attention to politics in Georgia. The time to get informed and make our voices heard is right now.

That's why we're hosting "Can't Wait" - an event to inspire immediate action and build momentum for change in our state. There are critical issues impacting Georgians that demand urgency.

In recent years, we've seen an extremist right-wing party push their agenda in Georgia without meaningful input from everyday Georgians. They've swiftly manipulated voting maps and rules, diminishing the power of voters. They've enacted abortion bans and healthcare restrictions that disregard medical expertise.

These aggressive moves are possible because the opposition hasn't been strong enough. But we aim to change that. The votes are there to flip the Georgia legislature and elect more progressive leaders - IF more citizens engage right now. Our power lies in numbers and participation.

That's where you come in. "Can't Wait" is intended to motivate ordinary Georgians who thought political engagement was out of reach. You'll hear from relatable people who overcame that feeling and found authentic ways to contribute.

We know that no one can do everything, but everyone can do something. Your unique talents and efforts, combined with other passionate Georgians, can bring the change we need. Many hands do make light work.

The problems we face in Georgia won't wait. The solutions can't wait. YOU can't wait to get involved in the change we need. So don't. Attend "Can't Wait" and be part of a force for change right here in our state. Because the time for Georgia is NOW.

Hear from the Changemakers

Be inspired by our lineup of dynamic speakers. Pouya Dianat, founder of CreateATL & Rep. Phil Olaleye will welcome us to the space advocating for male support for women in office. We have Sen. Sally Harrell, a trailblazer who broke barriers by being the first person to breastfeed in session 20 years ago, and who returned to run again, driven by her belief that she could contribute even more. Hear from Rep. Yasmin Neal, whose bi-partisan bill to protect victims of domestic violence passed into law. We're proud to have recruited Rep. Michelle Au, a doctor, comic book illustrator, and legislator whose effectiveness has made her a target of the Republicans. Han Pham, Executive Director of Her Term, will also share the innovative strategies they're testing to enhance our collective effectiveness. And we are very excited to introduce our first 2024 candidate: Susie Greenberg!

Join the Movement

Georgia is turning blue, but we need your help to expedite the change. Our goal is to build an inclusive and impactful movement, and we're inviting you to be a part of it. Join us for an evening where you can learn, network, and be inspired. Because honestly, we can't wait much longer.

Why Her Term

Joining Her Term is not just about making an investment; it's about standing up for what's right, right now. In the wake of the 2016 election, we saw a battlefield and decided to enter it, focusing on key seats that could tip the balance. When we started Her Term, women only held 36 seats, a mere 15% of our state legislature. Now, we're proud to say we've grown that number to 81, which represents 34%. We're inching closer to our goal of mirroring the 51% of Georgians who are women. Progress is a journey, and we're well on our way.

But Her Term goes beyond the numbers. We focus on the human aspect of politics. Last year, we provided free therapy services to our candidates, affirming that their mental health is a priority. This session, we're creating a sanctuary within the hectic Capitol environment, a place where they can breathe, connect, and feel supported.

Supporting Her Term means rallying behind a handpicked team of women who are ready to make a difference. Our major donors often split their contributions between Her Term and individual candidates, seeing the value in magnifying their impact across a larger group.

So, why Her Term? Because it's more than a strategy, it's a call to action. We're innovative, we're dedicated, and we're on a mission to reshape the political landscape to be more inclusive and representative. When you stand with Her Term, you're part of a movement for real, tangible change. We're not just changing the game – we're rewriting the rules. And we need your help to make it happen, because we simply can't afford to wait.
